Copywriter
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment.
The Copywriter is responsible for writing and editing assets created weekly, monthly, and ongoing by the Creative, Communications, & Production team. The Copywriter will also partner with other ministries on writing projects, with priority to the Sr. Minister and the church-wide projects. As such, this position requires a well-rounded individual with strong technical and soft skills. The Copywriter must also have a good understanding of the life and congregations of the church to help move people toward our bigger mission.

Working Hours: This is a Full-time position working at least 36 hours per week.
Anticipated Schedule: Monday- Thursday 8:30 – 5 pm (includes a 30 min unpaid break); Fridays 8:30 am – 12:30 pm.
During certain times of the year additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job. All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Proof all assets developed by the Creative, Communications, & Production Team as well as ministry emails and collateral materials.

Collaborates with Creative, Communications, & Production team to create innovative ideas and strategies for campaigns and pitches to ministries

Provides cohesive copy for a variety of materials and assets, including but not limited to print pieces, web copy, promotional copy, feature stories, and scripts.

Works with ministries on specific writing projects

Prepares and proofreads all churchwide emails and bulletins

Collaborates with other Communications staff and Ministries

Ensures that the church’s voice and grammatical standards are followed

Helps manage the HPUMC brand standards alongside the Sr. Communications Manager and Director of Creative, Communications, & Production

Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Education and Desired Skills:

4+ years of experience

Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Journalism, English or related field preferred

English, journalism, marketing, mass communications or equivalent job-related experience

A portfolio that reflects superior writing skills

Self-motivated; jumps in without waiting to be asked

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Software Experience:

Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
