The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) is an independent federal agency charged with investigating and determining the cause or probable cause of industrial chemical incidents resulting from the accidental release of a regulated or extremely hazardous substance into the ambient air. The mission of the CSB is to drive chemical safety change through independent investigations to protect people and the environment. The Agency was created by the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, and the CSB was first funded and commenced operations in 1998. The CSB’s core mission activities include conducting incident investigations; formulating preventive or mitigative recommendations based on investigation findings and advocating for their implementation; issuing reports containing the findings, conclusions, and recommendations arising from incident investigations; and conducting studies on chemical hazards.
**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a meticulous Copy Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for ensuring written material is error-free and well-structured.
Scope of work:
The Contractor shall provide copy editing services for CSB written products. Services shall include copy editing to ensure correct writing and usage of the English language in CSB written products (e.g., spelling, grammar, diction, punctuation, punctuation, etc.); ensuring consistency of editorial style throughout the document; editing confusing or awkward writing; maintaining accuracy and the intended meaning of the underlying technical work authored by CSB personnel; and providing clarifying comments to the author in the event of problems the copy editor(s) cannot resolve. The Contractor shall use Microsoft Word track changes when editing documents. The CSB-specified style manual(s) is (are) to be followed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess at least 5 years of relevant, comparable experience related to copy editing and graphic design. Familiarity with CSB investigations-related work products is greatly preferred. Relevant professional certifications and qualifications, including academic degrees earned in appropriate fields of study (e.g., English, technical writing, journalism, graphic design, art, etc.), as well as other relevant skills held by employees that are to perform the scope of work.
