The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) is a nonprofit trade association of 123 hospital and health system members. The association provides advocacy, education, and data information to its members. It represents and advocates health policy issues benefiting Iowans before the state legislature, U.S. Congress, and regulatory bodies. The Iowa Hospital Association is in Des Moines and is an allied member of the American Hospital Association.
About the Job
IHA seeks a seasoned marketing and communications professional to fill a newly created position of Senior Vice President (SVP), Marketing/Communications. The SVP:
· Leads the planning, development, implementation, and successful monitoring of communications, media relations, social strategies, advertising, and marketing for IHA
· Works with executive leadership and team leaders to ensure that all marketing and communications initiatives are aligned and support the strategic goals of the organization
· Is a member of the advocacy team and works cooperatively to build and implement integrated plans and campaigns to increase awareness of and support for IHA priority policy issues across key stakeholder audiences
· Establishes contacts/relationships with and serves as a resource for communication professionals in member hospitals
· Directs the creation of content for the website and social media and oversees development and production of member resources and communications
· Serves as primary point of contact for media relations on behalf of the organization
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
· Minimum ten (10) years of communications, public relations, marketing, or related experience required
· Strong knowledge and experience in the development and execution of public relations, communications, and marketing plans and activities, preferably in health care-related fields
· Demonstrated experience in media relations and crisis communications
· Preference will be given to candidates with political communications experience
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, problem-solving, strategic thinking and collaboration skills
Education
· Bachelors’ degree in Communications, Journalism/Public Relations, English or related field
· An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
