About the Role:
Global Television has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time National Manager, Transmitter Maintenance. Reporting to the National Director, Broadcast Infrastructure and Support, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining the protocols and standards for all of Corus’ 94 broadcast radio and television transmitter sites. Coupled with this responsibility, you will provide on-going support to maintain the health of our high-power broadcast transmitter infrastructure. This position is ideally suited to an individual who can lead a diverse team of technicians and understands all aspect of high-power broadcast transmitter infrastructure.
You will contribute by:
- Create, manage and maintain business, technical and operational best practices and standards as it pertains to broadcast transmitter infrastructure
- Provide direction and guidance to television and radio technicians across Canada as it pertains to high power broadcast radio and television transmitter sites
- Implement and support the initiatives and mandates of the National Director, Broadcast Infrastructure and Support
- Work closely with the government regulators, vendors and other broadcasters to ensure Corus’ business objectives and initiatives are met
- Provide support and assistance to ensure effective technical support is provided in a timely manner
- Provide direction for the design and implementation of systems relating to technology infrastructure, building infrastructure and broadcast transmission systems, including RF systems such as AM, FM, DTV, Microwave and Satellite systems
- Manage third party resources to provide technical support to Global Television and Corus Radio transmitter sites
- Collaborate with News and Radio Technology managers to create, maintain and manage Capital and Operational budgets as it pertains to the broadcast transmitter infrastructure
- Work with IT teams on network, hardware and software solutions as needed
- Manage direct report timesheet and vacation schedules
- Work directly with equipment manufacturers, suppliers and technical support to help resolve complex issues
- Provide ongoing guidance and operational support to local station technicians relating to Studio to Transmitter Links (STL)
- Ensure workplace safety protocols are followed at all times
- Implement and support National Director, Broadcast Infrastructure and Support initiatives and mandates
- Some travel and after hours work may be required
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Recognized certificate in Broadcast Technology, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or equivalent
- 5-7 years of Broadcast Engineering or related technology experience
- 7-10 years experience managing and maintaining broadcast radio and television transmitter sites in Canada
- Extensive knowledge in high power RF AM, FM and DTV transmission systems and other systems related to transmitter operations
- Extensive experience in operation and maintenance of all aspects associated with broadcast television and radio transmitter site equipment and operations
- Strong Project Management experience as it pertains to the construction associated with building new broadcast transmitter sites or major repairs
- Strong knowledge of computers and networking as related to Broadcast systems and infrastructure
- Experience working with RF equipment associated with Live News Trucks, Microwave and Satellite communications
- Knowledge of current video streaming, IP and wireless technologies
- Proficiency to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Proven leader who establishes and maintains a collaborative work environment
- A recognized mentor who motivates team members to achieve results
- Experience in leading remote and diverse teams
