General Statement:
The Digital Communications Specialist increases the visibility of the organization by positioning it through aggressive, effective, and interactive digital media communications. The primary responsibility of the Specialist in this role is the administration of the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation’s (ACNC) social media marketing, but this position also assists the Communications department in various other tasks including the outline, strategy and delivery of digital marketing campaigns, including search engine optimization and search engine marketing, content marketing and email marketing. . This is accomplished through strategic planning, effective writing and communication skills, knowledge of digital mediums, and collaboration with others to identify appropriate opportunities which directly benefit the ACNC. These opportunities may include elements of marketing, public relations, conservation, exhibits, programs, special events, hospitality, and volunteering.
Essential Duties:

Provides quality guest service to both internal and external guests by maintaining a WILD (friendly, helpful, positive and professional) working attitude and appearance.
- Manages social media campaigns and day-to-day posts. Responsibilities include online advocacy, editorial writing, community-outreach efforts, promotions, and more based on the overall strategy of the Marketing & Communication department.
- Creates content for, and manages presence in, social networking outlets including Facebook, X, Instagram, Google, TikTok, YouTube and other similar community/social sites.
- Collects and interprets analytics and market research data; monitors effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs; analyzes, reviews, and reports on the effectiveness of all campaigns to maximize results.
- Monitors trends in social media tools and applications.
- Assists and serves as backup in updating websites, including the curation of home and section pages of phoenixzoo.org.

Monitors, listens, and responds to user comments/questions, and identifies threats/opportunities based on trends and newsworthy events and happenings.
- Responds to media requests and messages from guests via our website and email channels.

Collaborates and coordinates taking, archiving, and categorizing photos.

Attends and assists in covering Zoo events, including community outreach initiatives and sponsor activations for social media and photo archives.

Assists in placing Zoo events on local calendar listings and on various CVB sites.
- Works collaboratively with other AZA organizations on industry-wide campaigns and ideas.

Works collaboratively with all departments to meet the ACNC's overall communication and marketing goals and objectives.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or related field preferred.

Journalism/PR/writing background with 3 years of experience in writing, editing, or related field preferred.

Excellent writing and editing skills required.

Video editing and digital photography experience preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
- Proficiency in Constant Contact, Sales Force or similar email marketing system required.
- Knowledge of Google and social media analytics.

Knowledge of the Zoo/ACNC, its culture, and mission of conservation preferred.

Creative, collaborative, and energetic approach; self-motivated and professional demeanor.

Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays and some overtime to meet business needs.

Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to tell stories in multimedia formats, solid editorial judgment and ethics.

Possession of a valid driver's license.

Ability to pass pre-employment background and DMV check, drug test, and annual TB test.
