Your Accountabilities:
- Financial Operations Management: General ledger oversite, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring all financial activities comply with GAAP accounting standards and industry regulations to provide insights for decision-making.
- Industry-Specific Nuances: Manage industry complexities i.e. royalty structures, tax-deductible capital expenditures, copywrites, touring settlements, merchandise sales, book publishing, and licensing deals.
- Revenue Management: Managing revenue streams including album sales, streaming royalties, concert ticket sales, merchandise, and licensing deals.
- Cost Management: Control costs and monitor expenses related to recording, marketing, touring, and other operational activities to maintain profitability.
- Royalty Accounting: Oversee the calculation and distribution of royalties to artists, songwriters, and other rights holders.
- Contract Compliance: Review contracts to ensure accurate financial representation and compliance with terms to avoid legal disputes and maintain good relationships with artists, producers, and stakeholders.
- Data Analysis and Strategic Insight: Analyze industry-specific data including, consumer behavior, streaming analytics, music consumption trends, and artist performance metrics to guide strategic decision-making, such as artist investment, content production, and marketing campaigns.
- Internal Controls and Risk Management: Implement strong internal controls to mitigate financial risks specific to the music industry, such as contract disputes, piracy, and royalty fraud.
- Collaboration Across Departments: Collaborate with different departments, including A&R (Artist and Repertoire), Marketing, Legal, and Touring, to communicate financial impacts.
- Financial Strategy: Assess investment opportunities, evaluate expansion plans, and optimize the capital structure collaborating with senior leadership to align financial strategies with the company's objectives.
- Staying Up-to-date: Keep educated on the music industry landscape and trends, including changes in streaming platforms, technology advancements, and legal matters that could impact the financial performance of the company and its artists.

The Fundamentals:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Several years of progressive experience in a controller or senior accounting role
- Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in financial analysis, financial reporting, and forecasting techniques
- Experience in NetSuite, QuickBooks, Salesforce, and Excel
- Professional yet amiable communication style
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work autonomously, effortlessly pivot, and meet deadlines in an evolving environment
