Summary
The Senior Video Director/ Editor– Bilingual is responsible forthe development, production and
post-production of public service announcements (TV & radio), documentaries and
vignettes for broadcast, social media and in-house use (mainly French, but also English).
This content contributes overall to the public awareness goals of the Association.
Duties
--Develops concepts for video productions that create awareness about the Association’s programs and services.
--Conducts thorough research required during various stages of planning creative content.
--Writes scripts and plans storyboards.
--Plans, coordinates, and directs filming sessions. Travel required.
--Conducts interviews.
--Works independently and creatively to produce and edit videos that tell engaging and inspirational stories.
--Prepares time sensitive offline and online edits on AVID Media Composer.
--Develops ideas and concepts for graphic designs, oversees the development of music scores and supervises audio mixes.
--Works collaboratively with the production and public relations teams to achieve a final product that meets the necessary requirements through varying stages of approvals.
--Prepares master files of final production.
--Ensures that broadcast and online deliverables are provided in accordance with approved technical specifications, including proper brand implementation.
--Assists with the day-to-day support of digital video technology and equipment for in-house facilities.
--Oversees production development in the absence of the Manager of the Audiovisual Div.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years professional working experience in video production at broadcast level.
- Demonstrated experience in directing, with non-professional talent.
- Proficiency in video editing, preferably with AVID Media Composer.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud - AfterEffects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Proven aptitude for creative storytelling.
- Strong research skills.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills; proven ability to work with children.
- Demonstrates good judgment and is a strong team player.
- Good time management skills – ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task.
- Experience working in a digital production environment.
- Reasonable skill level with evolving digital video technology and associated
software/hardware, including camera gear; willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate a camera on location is an asset.
- Bilingualism is required.
Education
Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting or demonstrated work equivalency.
Video samples and references required.
