The Editor position includes a unique blend of creative and operational tasks. The position performs the crucial role of ensuring the quality, accuracy, and relevance of our published content (written and video). Overseeing the collection and dissemination of original content by either curating from internal or external resources or creating themselves.
The Editor will have a keen eye for detail, strong communication and project management skills, a willingness to embrace highly technical content, an exceptional command of language, and the ability to shape content that engages our target audience.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative Process
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of departmental workflows and processes for project planning and resource allocation. (i.e. department process workflows, work requests, and/or work approval processes).
- Actively engage in project planning and creative design meetings, contributing ideas and fostering effective communication with all stakeholders
Writing
- Oversee the creation, development, and refinement of content across multiple platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and voice.
- Conduct thorough editing and proofreading to ensure text is free of errors, is coherent, and aligns with the organization's style guide. This includes grammar, punctuation, clarity, and fact-checking.
- Research and compile useful maintenance & reliability information into accessible original articles.
- Work closely with publisher, creative team, and other team members to produce relevant, compelling, and accurate content.
- Actively utilize new tools (such as generative AI) to aid in the efficient production of quality content.
Content Curation & Editing
- Regularly and effectively solicit outside written contributions from subject matter experts.
- Help provide editorial oversite of other staff writers within Noria.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts, contributors, and influencers.
- Provide constructive feedback to contributors and/or communicate edits made prior to publication.
- Stay informed about industry trends, audience preferences, and competing publication activities to suggest content improvements or new topics.
- Ensure all content complies with legal guidelines and ethical standards, including copyright laws and non-discrimination policies.
- Assist with analyzing website traffic and engagement metrics to identify areas for improvement and adjust content strategy accordingly.
- Track Publication visibility on LinkedIn and upload stories/photos to the channel.
- Create weekly templatized email newsletters and web pages and coordinate with graphic artists to create associated graphics.
- Assist with the development and management of editorial boards.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
- Experience with technical content (industrial/maintenance industry experience preferred).
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and SEO principles. HubSpot CRM experience is a plus.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter attitude, and obsessive attention to detail.
- Knowledge of AP Style or other style guides is a plus.
- Physical requirements of this position can include but are not limited to: the ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance, moving objects in a general office setting, standing, climbing, bending, and other repetitive motions.
- Required use of office equipment can include but is not limited to: copier, shredder, scanner, phone, mouse, keyboard, computer, and multi-function printers.
- Multitask and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with a range of people at all levels within the organization and contribute as a creative to the overall objectives of the company.
- Experiment creatively within parameters set by the Creative Director, technical experts and company leaders.
- Ability to work in a mixed Mac/PC environment.
- Writers who insist that Oxford commas never be used need not apply.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.
- Proven experience in editing, content creation, and management (5+ years preferred).
