The fabric of our nation is made both beautiful and unique by the people and the places found between our shores. Every community across the country has a treasure trove of stories waiting to be told, and we are here to do just that. With the help of our array of local reporters who know their communities, Sinclair is seeking to build a digital destination that celebrates the people, places, and things that make America amazing.
To help bring that vision to life, Sinclair Digital is looking for a social-savvy Editorial Assistant for our new Food & Travel vertical. This person in this role will wear many hats: from content ideating (voraciously reading up on everything food and travel), to pulling in potential content from sources from across the Sinclair network of stations, to writing, editing, optimizing and finally posting the content. They will work closely with the content producers and community manager, making sure the content we produce for our various platforms is not just well-conceived and snappily written, but also perfectly tagged/optimized when it goes out. The right person for this is going to be: highly detail oriented, have an interest in appearing on screen, possess excellent editing and communication skills, and thrive on the fast-paced and ever-changing social media landscape.
If you're keen to help us create some phenomenal food and travel content here at Sinclair, get in touch!
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Attend daily editorial stand ups and help pitch/produce original food and travel related content.
- Maintain/update the full editorial calendar for the food and travel verticals.
- Work with the producers, community manager and editorial director to ideate platform-specific videos, creating engaging food and travel related content.
- Work with our researchers and other Sinclair Digital staff to find content that could be repurposed from the various Sinclair stations around the country.
- Copyedit all content pre-publishing.
- Optimize and tag content, including adding thumbnail images.
- Publish all content based on editorial calendar.
- Capture tone and produce content that is on brand for our channels, while being open to exploration of multiple directions if needed.
- Attend shoots and or events when necessary. Engage with analytics (i.e. Sprout/Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Crowd Tangle, etc.), to help us identify what's working (and what isn't).
- At least 1-3 years of work experience in the content creation space.
- Must have a highly curious mind, possess the ability to spot trends in social media.
- Experience creating engaging social content with Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere, Photoshop; everything from vertical video production to graphic template manipulation to photo editing.
- Skilled in using mobile and platform-specific in-app video editing tools for creating content on the ground as needed across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Threads, Facebook and Pinterest.
- Impeccable writing and copyediting skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- An ability to work quickly on tight deadlines and create amazing content on the fly.
- Have a social first mindset with a passion for creating what is next.
- Able to find and adapt viral trends to video edits.
- Experience capturing video and being on camera is a plus.
- Must be comfortable with ambiguity and change that may come about as our team evolves.
